Even without the use of anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF) medicines, rheumatoid arthritis is linked to a 2-4-fold rise in the incidence of tuberculosis (TB). There have been cases of active tuberculosis linked to the use of TNF-inhibiting therapeutics all over the world. TNF- is involved in the infection and illness of mycobacteria.
